The One Night In Sevilla Story "La dulzura!", Lara Lopez Radio Spain At the end of a European Summer Tour Carlos Gelling and Jono Heyes were sitting in a French village drinking a fine bottle of Bordeaux. When Jono turned to Carlos and said, "hey why not head down to the south of Spain and meet up with Trevor Coleman?" With the last coins of the tour money in their pockets they found a cheap rental car and were not able to afford insurance so they drove perilously 2500km to meet the tanned Trevor Coleman in the burning heat of Sevilla, one of the ancient beating hearts of Flamenco in Andalucia Spain. On the way they stayed in melting Madrid with Jaione and thanks to a tip from Radio Spain host Lara Lopez they found one of Spains best kept secrets, a studio with an auspicious Russian name; Sputnik Studios. There in a true cosmonautic type spirit they recorded in One Night in Sevilla an album rich in improvisations, insinuations of Flamenco,North African tonalities and the duende of the south. |
